Macgregor Trilogy

Set between the Union of 1707 and the collapse of the Jacobite cause after Culloden, the Macgregor Trilogy follows an outlawed Highland clan whose name, lands and political loyalties have all been placed under threat. Rob Roy MacGregor, his nephew Gregor and their descendants remain attached to the exiled Stuarts even as government troops, hostile landlords and legal proscription make ordinary clan life increasingly difficult.

Each novel shifts the struggle to a new generation. The first joins armed resistance to Gregor’s courtship of Mary Hamilton; the second turns Rob Roy’s feud with the Duke of Montrose into a defence of home and family; the third follows Duncan MacGregor through Prince Charles Edward Stuart’s flight and the attempt to recover French Jacobite gold. Together the books portray clan loyalty as both strength and burden, carrying the MacGregors from rebellion into concealment, endurance and survival.
