Historical person
William Blake
1757–1827
William Blake was an English poet, artist and printmaker who created illuminated books combining text and image. Largely unrecognised by the wider public during his lifetime, he developed a personal mythology and radical religious vision in works including Songs of Innocence and of Experience and Jerusalem.
In Tracy Chevalier’s Burning Bright, their new neighbour is the poet, printer and artist William Blake, whose unconventional household fascinates both children.
