David Lloyd George

David Lloyd George was a Welsh Liberal politician who served as British prime minister from 1916 to 1922. He directed the final years of the First World War, represented Britain at the Paris Peace Conference and promoted major social reforms, while his coalition methods and post-war policies remained divisive.
In Pat Barker’s The Eye in the Door, his assignment brings him to Beattie Roper, a fictional counterpart of anti-war activist Alice Wheeldon, imprisoned after an alleged plot to poison Prime Minister David Lloyd George.
