Arsinoe IV of Egypt was a Ptolemaic princess and rival of her sister Cleopatra VII. During the Alexandrian War she was proclaimed queen by forces opposing Caesar and Cleopatra, later appeared in Caesar’s triumph and was eventually executed at Ephesus on Antony’s order.

In Margaret George’s The Memoirs of Cleopatra, Told as Cleopatra VII’s own memoir, the novel follows the last Ptolemaic queen from childhood in an unstable royal household to her struggle for sole control of Egypt.
