The mission leads into the Second Italian War of Independence and the Battle of Solferino, where French and Sardinian forces met the Austrian army in one of the largest European battles since the Napoleonic Wars. Jack enters the campaign as an observer and hunter rather than a conventional soldier, but the battlefield again becomes the environment in which his talents—and his damage—are most exposed.
