The Heavenly Fugitive
In New York during the Roaring Twenties, Amelia becomes a nightclub singer with the help of a gangster while her brother Phillip, an assistant district attorney, also develops dangerous ties to the underworld.
Set against Prohibition-era American Organized Crime, the story extends the Winslow genealogy through a specific phase of American or global history, using Christian conversion, family inheritance and romantic loyalty as its principal interpretive framework.
