The Egyptian

Fourteenth century BCE. Sinuhe, a foundling raised in Thebes and trained as a physician, enters royal service during the final years of Amenhotep III and the revolutionary reign of Akhenaten.

From Egypt he travels through Syria, Mitanni, Babylon, Crete and the Hittite world, observing diplomacy, war, medicine, religion and the unequal lives of palace and street. His friendship with the soldier Horemheb and his proximity to Akhenaten, Nefertiti, Tutankhamun and Ay place him at the centre of the Amarna upheaval and its violent aftermath.
