Stop Rommel!

Egypt, 1939 When John Warrey agrees to act as navigator for a trans-Saharan expedition led by the famous photographer Margo Cartwright, he has no idea what he is getting himself into. What begins an exotic adventure quickly turns into a grim battle for survival. The Italian Colonel Umberto comes to the rescue just in time, but their safety is jeopardised once more by the discovery that Margo is in fact a British secret agent. Back in England, John’s courage and ability attract the attention of the intelligence service alongside Margo’s recommendation.

After some gruelling training he returns to Cairo to spy on Il Duce’s men and make contact with Senussi tribesmen – potential British allies – under the guise of a typewriter salesman. When war breaks out, John and Margo are caught up in a web of intrigue and action as the Desert Rats storm towards Tripoli, only to be halted and thrown back by Rommel’s Afrika Korps. A trans-Saharan expedition recruits Warrey into British intelligence and then returns him to Cairo under commercial cover, where Senussi alliances, Italian forces and Rommel’s arrival transform reconnaissance into open desert war.
