In 537, the Roman Empire is on the march. After victory in North Africa, Emperor Justinian dreams of restoring the Western Empire. Coel ap Amhar, King Arthur's grandson, has defeated the empress's champion in the arena. To escape her vengeance, he joins the army bound for Italy.
