Operation Tulip
Holland, 1944. British agent Nancy Callaghan is undercover in the occupied Netherlands, posing as a wealthy Nazi sympathiser in order to penetrate the circle around an SS officer and obtain information about a captured resistance contact. After the Allied advance stalls, the northern Netherlands remains under German control and Nancy’s options for escape narrow rapidly.
In England, Tom Lockwood develops a plan to bring her home while Nancy faces the hunger, repression and collapsing resistance networks of the final winter of occupation. The third Secret Agent novel combines espionage with the Dutch Hunger Winter and the approach of liberation, forcing Nancy to maintain a false identity at the moment when civilian conditions are becoming desperate.
