Loki’s Deceit

In the summer of AD 854, Sven has recovered his position as jarl of Ribe, but neither he nor Charles is secure. Charles struggles to live among Norse pagans while remaining loyal to his Christian upbringing, and the arrival of a southern priest deepens the tension. When a claimant to the Danish throne seeks Sven’s support against King Horik, Sven is drawn into a succession struggle that threatens Ribe and his grandson. Political ambition, divided loyalties and concealed motives converge as Denmark moves towards war.
