City of Vengeance

Florence, winter 1536. A prominent Jewish moneylender is murdered inside his home, and officer Cesare Aldo is ordered to identify the killer before the feast of Epiphany. The short deadline forces him through the city’s banking networks, political households and criminal court, where wealth offers protection to some suspects and makes others convenient targets.

The investigation reveals a conspiracy against Alessandro de’ Medici, the volatile duke whose fall could plunge Florence into violence. At the same time, a rival officer is searching for evidence about Aldo’s concealed relationships, knowledge that could end his career and place his life at risk. Aldo must separate personal motives from political treason before the murderer strikes again and the struggle for control of Florence overtakes the case.
