The action moves through the last phase of the Chiricahua conflict and culminates in the pursuit that ended with Geronimo's surrender to General Nelson Miles in 1886. Against that historical background, Shoz-Dijiji's struggle becomes a story of survival, divided loyalties and the narrowing choices faced by an Apache community under relentless military pressure.
