The Queen orders Georgie to host Princess Hanni of Bavaria in the hope that the lively young woman will attract the Prince of Wales. Georgie has almost no money with which to feed or entertain her guest, and Hanni’s enthusiasm for nightclubs, gangster slang and political meetings soon creates a succession of public embarrassments.
When a man is found murdered in a bookshop and Hanni becomes connected with a group of communists, Georgie realizes that her royal houseguest may be in genuine danger. She follows the princess through London’s fashionable and radical circles to identify the killer before another political spectacle becomes a royal scandal.
