Damien Lewis

Damien Lewis is a British author, filmmaker and former war correspondent best known for narrative histories of the Second World War, espionage and special-forces operations. He spent approximately twenty years reporting from war, disaster and conflict zones for the BBC and other international news organisations. His books combine archival research, interviews and eyewitness testimony to reconstruct covert missions and the experiences of soldiers, resistance fighters and intelligence operatives.

His works include Operation Certain Death, Churchill’s Secret Warriors, The Nazi Hunters, SAS Band of Brothers, SAS Ghost Patrol and Agent Josephine, about entertainer and Resistance agent Josephine Baker. Lewis has also written accounts of animals in wartime, including Judy, The Dog Who Could Fly and It’s All About Treo. Churchill’s Secret Warriors provided the basis for the 2024 film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
